If you have significant money involved, I would recommend using a dedicated server service. I would find one with good reliability ratings, and the one with good ping times to IB. I would also recommend running a second IB user account TWS session where you yourself are, and some kind of server monitor software, so that if the server goes down you can close your position if need be.
Consumer grade equipment is garbage. So is consumer utilities. My cable modem connection tends to crap out, as does my power. My girlfriends computer caught on fire once... I like to have these risks managed by people who do this stuff for a living.
