Right. A call to IB tech service indicated that since I am using a cash
account, all margins are overnight margins regardless of the time of trade,
and I don't get a 50% discount intraday. I misinterpreted the web
notification above.

CL regular trading hours are 9am to 14:30 EDT.

Right again.. the tech indicated that the 'regular trading hours' for TWS
charting and IB (9:30 to 16:00) were just for them, and did not corresponds
to the actual hours the exchanges keep. He indicated that they affect the
ability to place futures stop loss orders or something like that.

This is probably fortunate. I wanted to trade CL since it had a low
intraday margin requirement, but now it is the same as ES. I was not being
successful in finding a profitable strategy for CL but now I'll follow you
guy's lead with ES. This also means I wont get to trade real live until
next year when I fund my account some more. It will give more time to work
on my strategies.
Thanks for all the responses.
