Yes, the TM is available through JNDI for system purposes.
I think of JNDI as I think of a filesystem in Unix, i.e. everything is a
file even the i.o have their own file handle. In the same fashion the JNDI
stuff exposes vital system resources, it is a matter of security to remove
access to all JNDI.
As you guessed your beans should work from the API, having the TM (and other
stuff as well) is kosher per the spec (not specified :)
