Yes, we have that since there are deployment descriptors for application
clients, just as there are for EJB's. Read the J2EE spec for
details/inspiration.

It seems you are assuming we have no control over the application
client. Well, according to the J2EE spec we have as much control as we
want: we can make custom installers, wrappers, whatever.

So, with risk of getting excessively repetivite: It Will Work. :-)
