JBoss may one day displace BEA WAS as it exists today, but we are nowhere near there 
yet.

JBoss is my favorite app server for a number of reasons, but hatred of BEA or their 
product is not one of those reasons.

In fact, I believe that JBoss's primary avenue of growth over the next year will be in 
hybrid environments where JBoss and BEA co-exist. JBoss will start out in development 
environments at many companies, and then begin co-existing with BEA in production 
environments. What happens beyond that depends largely on the skill and enthusiasm of 
the JBoss development community.

BEA is not the enemy, here. Their very good product is going to facilitate 
astronomical growth in the JBoss user community. The "enemy" in my experience tends to 
be customers who are very insistent on using closed-source products with overpriced 
support contracts even when those products are not the best solution.

To that end, I love the T-Shirt slogan based on the Ghandi quote: "First they ignore 
us, then they laugh at us..."
