I do see your points.  I find them sensible/strong/right :)

My point is that in general, you have no way to know how to map a
foreign key properly in the database.  That is, you can only do that if
the child bean is a CMP entity, managed by JAWS, in the same ejb-jar (so
that it has jaws.xml data and you can access it).

We want to be able to store references to all kinds of beans, and the
handle is IMHO a good if not perfect generic candidate.  To do things
real properly, we need more info on the foreign key, which means either
ask for more in jaws.xml or wait until we switch to cmp2.0 where
relations and dependencies are more defined (any other idea welcome).
