last week i found that the *.tgz for the jboss-jetty and jboss-tomcat packages
aren't really gzipped, just tarred. try tar xvf *.tgz. this worked for me.

I've posted a message some days ago...
It was the same for me on Linux...
But if you use dos2unix on the tgz file it works...
Seems like the tgz is considered as an ASCII file.
