Okay,
I've tried downloading the file again, with the same result. I also
tried using dos2unix on it, but that failed also.
Here's the most recent output from file, unzip, and tar on the
downloaded file (my system is RedHat 6.2)
[chaz@localhost chaz]$ file archive/jboss-petstore.tgz
archive/jboss-petstore.tgz: gzip compressed data, deflated, last
modified: Thu Oct 12 13:57:54 2000, os: Unix
[chaz@localhost chaz]$ ls -l archive/jboss-petstore.tgz
-rw-r--r-- 1 chaz software 11142 Nov 27 10:38
archive/jboss-petstore.tgz
[chaz@localhost chaz]$ unzip archive/jboss-petstore.tgz
Archive: archive/jboss-petstore.tgz
End-of-central-directory signature not found. Either this file is not
a zipfile, or it constitutes one disk of a multi-part archive. In the
latter case the central directory and zipfile comment will be found on
the last disk(s) of this archive.
unzip: cannot find zipfile directory in one of
archive/jboss-petstore.tgz or
archive/jboss-petstore.tgz.zip, and cannot find
archive/jboss-petstore.tgz.ZIP, period.
[chaz@localhost chaz]$ tar tvf archive/jboss-petstore.tgz
tar: This does not look like a tar archive
tar: Skipping to next header
tar: 390 garbage bytes ignored at end of archive
tar: Error exit delayed from previous errors
[chaz@localhost chaz]$ sum archive/jboss-petstore.tgz
60512 11
I wonder if the originator of the file could see if the checksum and
filesize match the original file before upload.
