The con.getMetaData().getTables() is a bug in InterClient 2.0 unfortunately; the only
problem I found with InterClient 1.6 was that I kept receiving exceptions after about
~20 concurrent connections per JVM, YMMV (DatabaseNotAvailable exceptions or something
similar). The only workaround I've managed to use for this is to upgrade to Firebird
0.9.4 and InterClient 2.0, but unfort. that doesn't help with jBoss given getTables()
doesn't work correctly.
Its also worth noting that any versions of Interbase prior to the latest Sourceforge
one (firebird 0.9.4) including Interbase 6.0 and 6.01, have a serious security hole in
them (a backdoor account kindly provided by the Borprise engineers).
The sources for InterClient 2.0 are available though, it may not be too hard to
interrogate the RDB$RELATIONS system table or similar to get getTables() working.
