In general boundary events are supported on individual tasks and not only on
composites but as the errors indicated they are only supported for state based
nodes like user task, work item task, etc as for automatic activities where
process does not stop at all boundary events do not make much sense in my
opinion.

What use case do you have to put a boundary event on script task? it would
never be triggered as process will run through script task without stopping
mean no chance that anything will trigger boundary event on it...

In master there is already a validation check to provide more meaningful
information on such cases instead of throwing class cast exception.
