Just found the solution myself:
do the mapping of faces-view as prefix-mapping instead of postfix mapping
('/faces/*' instead of '*.seam'). Then add the weblets-servlet with mapping to
'/faces/weblets/*'. This results in the lifecycle not longer being invoked for
resource-requests and the NPE should disappear.
