Well, you're comparing apples and oranges.  Or, maybe, apples and hamsters.  
:-) 

A transport is a set of classes used for transmitting messages across a 
network.  A callback is a message sent asynchronously from the server to the 
client.

Maybe you're thinking of comparing invocations and callbacks?  An invocation is 
a procedure call from the client to the server, including a response.
