Are you using a MySQL connector jar with a "-g" in the filename: mysql-connector-java-[version]-bin-g.jar. That's the debug version of the connector and requires the AspectJ jar. You should switch to the standard connector (mysql-connector-java-[version]-bin.jar), and you can get rid of the AspectJ jar.
