Christopher, what exactly you mean by the "high availability and distributed requirements"? Our app is distributed and needs HA as well and we do fulfil all of the requirements using the architecture I described. BTW our previous project had the same requirements and we used entity beans(in WebLogic), so I know what I'm talking about ;-).
