1) Like most options, it is a config property on the connection factory: <config-property name="CheckValidConnectionSQL" type="java.lang.String"> org.jboss.resource.adapter.jdbc.vendor.OracleExceptionSorter </config-property>
2) If it is not in the jboss distribution it is not supported in the version of jboss you have. I assume you are using an early version of 3.0.x?
