unfortunately, the hunt is now on. i had roughly the same
experience, starting out, as you have had. it really, reeeeely would be
nice if that dependencies page was updated to include links to at least
the home pages of the required packages, if not to the packages
themselves. i believe that in at least one case, the dependency's
development has moved on by one or two major versions, and the newer
release doesn't work correctly with JCS. (my apologies for not
remembering anymore which package that was.)
on the bright side, you'll be quite pleased with JCS, once you get
your environment configured. it's worth the effort.
