Title: RE : [dbforms] RE: jDbForms-interest digest, Vol 1 #360 - 3 msgs, checkbox behav ior
Sorry, it was not my intent to disparage dbforms.  We have found it to be an excellent and useful tool and I highly recommend it to anyone doing web based database applications. It has greatly simplified some of our applications.  My post was not an answer but a comment that we had the same problem and had asked the same question but had no response regarding how to solve it. I apologize if my post should have been worded more carefully and I will take more care in the future.

What kind of an answer is that! - No one has posted an answer therefore it must be dbforms!  It happens to be a very well documented HTML limitation. (No value is submitted when the checkbox is not checked) Your best approach is to use an interceptor to trap this...

We also have tried to get help on the checkbox functionality but, as of yet, no one seems to have any comments on the behavior of the checkbox.  We have the same problem.  A value is inserted when the checkbox is checked but it does not update the database when the checkbox is unchecked.  This may be a limitation of DB forms since no one has posted an answer to the problem.

RE:

I'm a dbforms newbie, working on my first app. I'm having trouble getting check boxes to update my database if the box is changed from checked to unchecked. The checkbox displays the existing value correctly, updates the field from "no" to "yes"  but does not update the db field if I uncheck. Selects work ok. I don't have any radios yet.

The value is stored in a mySQL char field as "no' or "yes". Null allowed, default="no". Here's the checkbox syntax (from memory):

<db:checkbox fieldName="fitness" value="yes" />

Any ideas.
