When you do not use a default value in your checkbox(ie exclude ...value="Y" from your tag) what values are inserted into the database? The documentation says that "...otherwise dbforms-Framework determines the value." This is stated on page 125 under description of value.
What I am finding is that checkboxes are confusing. That checkbox values do not pass to another page if they are unchecked. This is why dbforms cannot track checkboxes that are uncheck. I just don't like the fact that it says dbforms will determine the value. What does it determine? What are the values?

We also have tried to get help on the checkbox functionality but, as of yet, no one seems to have any comments on the behavior of the checkbox. We have the same problem. A value is inserted when the checkbox is checked but it does not update the database when the checkbox is unchecked. This may be a limitation of DB forms since no one has posted an answer to the problem.

I'm a dbforms newbie, working on my first app. I'm having trouble getting check boxes to update my database if the box is changed from checked to unchecked. The checkbox displays the existing value correctly, updates the field from "no" to "yes" but does not update the db field if I uncheck. Selects work ok. I don't have any radios yet.
The value is stored in a mySQL char field as "no' or "yes". Null allowed, default="no". Here's the checkbox syntax (from memory):
<db:checkbox fieldName="fitness" value="yes" />
Any ideas.
