I suppose this is not the solution.
1st try:
<table name="TABLE_NAME_AE" displayName="&auml;">
the xslt throws SAXParseException: The entity "auml was referenced but not
declared.

2nd try (&amp; is the character entity for ampersand)
<table name="TABLE_NAME_AE" displayName="&amp;auml;">
the xslt translates it to "&amp;auml;" in the JSP which is displayed wrong
of course.

3rd try (&#228; is the character entity for a umlaut)
<table name="TABLE_NAME_AE" displayName="&#228;">
the xslt translates the same wrong character as I'd put in an "�"

Could it be a bug in devgui? I have made several xml/xsl translations with
apache fop to pdf. If I encoded the xml with ISO-8859-1, I had never problems
with german umlauts.
