about the bug

i believe JPDA notes the bug as fixed (i'm trying to ascertain all the
facts) because as far as the basic jdb is concerned, it can use shared
memory as a way of connecting to the VM, which of course doesn't require
an active 'net connection.

there is also some talk of possibly installing one of the
widely-available null TCP stacks... anyone have info on that?
