Switched to using eieio-0.15, the problem still occurs.
Information I should have included earlier:
1. The aforementioned error message occurs in the minibuffer on opening a
.java file.
2. The Java file is opened, with font-lock turned on, and the modeline
indicating that JDE is running.
3. However, only the Java menu shows up (i.e. none of the menus JDE
introduces show up)
4. Also, none of the JDE keybindings work.
I am planning on try this all with a window native version of XEmacs 21.4,
will report results if they are any different.
