Hi all,
If, as seems probable, it becomes necessary to rename the JDE, I am
thinking of referring to the JDE as "JMode, a Java Development Environment
for Emacs" or "JMode" for short. I would retain jde- as the prefix for the
JMode lisp code because JMode is, after all, a
J(ava)D(evelopment)E(nvironment) and I don't think code is protected by
trademarks. I would ask Sunsite Denmark to provide us with a new mailing
list name [EMAIL PROTECTED] and a new domain name, jmode.sunsite.dk. Mail
sent to [EMAIL PROTECTED] would be forwarded to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
I like JMode because
* JMode has an Emacs flavor (the JDE is a mode in Emacs-speak).
* JMode does not appear to be registered with the U.S. patent office
(as far as I can tell, I'd appreciate somebody double-checking for me).
I would attempt to register JMode as a trademark.
* JMode cannot possibly be confused with JDE, thus hopefully, it would
put an end to nasty missives from JD Edwards.
I'd appreciate your feedback on this proposal.
Regards,
- Paul
