With this version, make sure the jabber.xml file is in the directory you are
starting from.  Even if you are in . and you type ./jabberd/jabberd.exe, the
jabber.xml must still be in .

I still start this version in the same manner you describe below.  This
seems to work better for me.

This version worked right out of the box for me.  The only disadvantage to
this one is the fact that there are no transports available for it.
