At the time there was an effort to create an RDF-iCal standard. This work has continued. I don't know where they are right now. But the site is at:

If you would like you can mail me offline and I can give you more information that I have found. The problem I ran into was that there is no formal XML way to store or send calendar information. iCal isn't in XML, at one time someone had done an iCal in XML document, http://www.globecom.net/ietf/draft/draft-dawson-ical-xml-dtd-01.html. This work was done in Dec 98 and expired in June 99. I emailed the person who originally wrote this and never got a response about it. Then I found the RDF Calendar group. The work they are doing is nice and seems like it would provide a better solution than just the XML version. I could start a JEP for this. The Jabberzilla implementation was going to be client only.
