I agree that p2p is more efficient for any single transfer. However, if both clients are firewalled, they can't talk to each other.

That's probably better, but the gestalt of the discussion at the moment seems to be "server-assisted transfers are stupid," which is why I posted in favor of server intermediation. You pointed out another way in which server-assist might be advantageous -- distribution.
