That's only true if the client receiving the message is a Jabber client, right? I see this issue all the time with a Jabber client I've written for the Handspring Treo. Messages get sent from the phone, but there's simply no way to know whether they got through to the server. I, for one, simply wish there were an event that acknowledged receipt of a message for delivery...
