Don't get me wrong.  I'm glad that you had the same idea and implemented it... 
because otherwise, I might have had to do it myself, which would just be more 
work. ;-)

Well, as directly as Perl ever can. ;-)

But I get your point.  The idea of being able to load the plugins "as-is" is 
exactly what I would try to achieve.  That way, all the effort goes into 
building the transport once... then when a protocol updates, you just install 
the new GAIM from ports or portage, or whatever takes your fancy.  Libraries 
pick up, everything works, everybody's happy. :-)
