John

Google(and others) does provide information
but are not INTELLIGENT enough to tell you which one is the BEST option
,what's the right approach, the issues which could arise etc.

For these you need the expertise of experienced people
and Mailing Lists like these are the best place for that.

Simply amazing!

If the link http://technet.oracle.com helped one find information on

" Can anyone provide me any pointers on how to invoke a Java class from
> PL/SQL."

then why would one not think to go to oracle's many sites and hunt
around before posting to this list?

Geezus - we don't need list moderation - just a little Google filter
interceptor so we don't see the following hypothetical postings:

POST -> What is the difference between an index mutual fund and an
International Small Cap fund.

REPLY -> Check the following links http://www.msn.com or
http://www.nyse.com
Or
REPLY -> RTFM and then go to blah.blah.blah.index_mutual_fund.spec

I am simply saying use Google first - like this:

<google_power>
http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&q=tom+robbins
</google_power>

and the quality of this list will rise considerably.

John

As far as I know JDBC specs does NOT provide any info about Java from
PL/SQL
The links provided by Mark were of Help.

Thanks
Bhuvan

Ok but now I am interested - Did you use the information in the JDBC
spec on the Sun site or the links Mark provided?

Here we go again.

Did you even read John's post???? Please read before you post.

He, John, was CORRECTLY stating that if the original poster, Bhuvan,
were to
read the JDBC spec as suggested by the second poster, Jason Bell, then
he,
Bhuvan, "would NOT read a thing about invoking a Java class from
PL/SQL.".
Note the key word...NOT.

As you stated...
The first thing you want to do before being a wiseass is make sure you
are
100% correct.

True. True.

Hmmm...
If John would read the question he would realize that the question was
of
something tottally
different -
java called from PL/SQL, IOW, java from stored procedures, not vice
versa.
Which has nothing
to do with the JDBCspec . In fact , one doesn't need to use JDBC at all.
The
docs on how to do
this are on http://technet.oracle.com :
http://otn.oracle.com/tech/java/jsp/pdf/stored_procs_in_java_twp.pdf

The first thing you want to do before being a wiseass is make sure you
are
100% correct.
