Title: RE: [jdjlist] Re: J2ME
Yeah I'm just sort of worried as to whether I would be able to cope with Java when it gets more complicated ? I don't know. I hope that I will be able to handle it ie to be able to "run" (after learning to walk and crawl) in your terminology.

That's the worry that I am having ????

Let's see... you've learned to crawl... then walk... Why are you worried again?

I'm just sort of worried that stuff like J2Me might be much more difficult than learning the beginning parts of java.

I am only just starting java at the moment and so far I am doing quite well. I am just a little worried that java might become very difficult as I move to more advanced topics like maybe threads or sockets or things like that.

I am just wanting some assurance that I will be able to cope with learning java as it gets to more advanced topics and then when moving into "real world" stuff like J2ME -- which is ultimately what I would need to be doing.

I am just sort of curious as to what people do "in the real world" -- ie what sort of programs they build and what sort of code that involves ?

And whether I would be able to cope with doing that ?

How did you compute that ?

BigInteger , BigDecimal , float , double or even long double ;-) ?

Back to part 1.) of Tim's original question :

CD's with additional software for PDAs contain e.g. the "PocketC" editor + examples + compiler for machine-independent VM code.

It's language is a mixture of C(++) and Java concepts (e.g. String usage) and might be a good start for beginners before digging into the J2ME real world.
