I don't know about the JBoss doing this, but you can definitely configure the Jakarta Ant script to restart the server and perform an FTP.
Just my 0.5 cent

I use it all the time on my win2k box. It works great!
I wrote a simple http updater in java, but then I found a small utility that
worked even better, so I threw out the code.
Now when I log in, the utility checks to see if ther is a new IP adress, and
if so, it sends the HTTP request to update to dyndns. Your JBoss server
could do the same thing.
This is a little more simple than the original architecture, because you
don't need to FTP and redirect. whatever.homeip.net points directly to the
server.
Good Luck,
Joe

a few years ago, a friend said he was going to try this one:
www.dyndns.org I don't know if it worked or not or if he found a
better solution.
