Yes companies are building on AES, but its not just Java.  I just
finished a months work of building Java AES(Rijndael), C Rijndael, &
Perl Rijndael Java code wrote the encrypted key to an encrypted file,
and wrote the plaintext to a DB column.  They had C and Perl apps that
needed to select the field, decryptd the key to decrypt the DB data.

Hardly.  50 miles driver each way and 20 $/hr.  The people were great
and technology was ok but the pay was weak.  A sign of the times in
New England.
