I personally have
used Jedit 4.1 running on PIII 860Mhz with 512Mb RAM .It was slow and it seems
like having a memory leak.I did have made an effort to solve the problem but
adding System.gc() to 'induce' ot to garbage collection ( though no guarantees)
, but does not solve the problem. If your html conform to XML standard, then by
using the jedit plugin, you can reformat the html in a nice way and could help
you match the closing tags.
I did love all the
feature offered by it except the speed.Seems like it requires a faster
machine like P4 at least.
As for Textpad is it
fast but less useful than Jedit.
Vim is a better
option ( since it requires a smaller memory footprint ) minus the learning curve
;-)
P.S:
I just give share my
personal experience on these tools.I didn't mean to give any bias comment on
it.
