why even bother replying Luss? That reply has almost no usefuless whatsoever...I say almost as you do put in it a passing comment regarding building on the command line and so thats a vague suggestion that hence building on the command line is the way to go.....but thats a stretch and im only saying that to give you some very MINOR credit. But apart from that why bother to evn reply. You tell him its simple ...and leave it at that. Well if its so simple why not give the single command to do the build (on command line)...or if perhaps it takes more than a single command (and hence isn't quite so SIMPLE after all) then give the series of commands to do so ... or perhaps point at a doc that tells you what commands to enter or at a URL link etc. At the very least a URL to allow him to RTFM and work out himself!!!
But just saying ...oh thats easy ... and nothing else is so pointless and whats more its insulting cos your saying ...well that's so easy any one should be able to do it, I know how to do it...but I wont tell you cos its so easy you should know. Ill deliberately keep you in the dark! Well the fact he is asking shows he doesnt know so telling him its simple and nothing else is pointless. Sorry about the rant but that email really got my goat up when I read it and made me have to say something to stop these sorts of emails in the future..... cheers marty p.s. I hope after all this some one does put the build instructions up. Idid some searching and found the following seperate instructions for MAC abnd Windows for jdk 7 ...any better ones are encouraged: MAC OSX - http://infernus.org/2009/02/building-java-7-on-mac-os-x/ WINDOWS- http://download.java.net/jdk7/docs/build/README-builds.html On Mon, Dec 20, 2010 at 12:52 AM, Lussier, Denis <den...@openscg.com> wrote: > It's very straightforward to build OpenJDK on any modern version of > Linux from the command line.
