That's right, the jabber-plugin connects to an existing jabber server.

I'm maintaining the jabber-plugin - though I've to admit that I've not
spend a lot of time on it in the last months.
I don't know about a jabber-server-plugin - is that a different plugin
or just a typo?

Isn’t this plugin still maintained by Christoph (kutzi)? You can
submit changes using pull request…
