Hi, I had a look at the existing description setter plugin again. By looking at the code I found out, that if no regex is given then, the description is taken as it is, i.e. the log output is not parsed at all. Here the token macro expansion can happen, so that if no regex is given, but a macro in the description, then the macro is expanded.
I made the respective changed and created a PR at https://github.com/jenkinsci/description-setter-plugin/pull/4 So therefore please ignore this request for a new plugin for the time being.
