Yes. Just now I tried going from OpenJDK to Oracle Java, as suggested by @dvaske, and it worked perfectly! I followed this process: http://www.webupd8.org/2012/01/install-oracle-java-jdk-7-in-ubuntu-via.html
I'm running Ubuntu 12.04 Server. I'd still like to see this fixed for OpenJDK, but it's a much lower priority for me now.
