Mark Waite resolved JENKINS-17413 as Cannot Reproduce Unhelpful exception caused by a NullPointerException while attempting to use a git refspec -- javax.servlet.ServletException: java.lang.RuntimeException: Failed to instantiate class hudson.plugins.git.GitSCM I tried to duplicate this problem using git-client-plugin 1.6.2 and git-plugin 2.0.1 without success. Does the original submitter or the first person who commented still see the problem with the most recent versions of those plugins?
