Before reopening: This issue needs to also happen in 1.553 or newer, as that release changed how the timeline gets its data – reports on older versions don't help anymore.
Ideally, you'll be able to provide reproducible steps how to get this problem on a clean Jenkins instance. Also mention web browser (+version) if relevant to hitting this issue.
