There is not a way to do this right now. One of the things I'm planning on releasing in 0.18 or 0.19 (trying to speed up the rate at which the plugin gets released) is more fine-grained permissions and subsequently allow users to specifically tune which permissions the plugin will request from users when they do the initial app authorization against GH.
I'd love to get some feedback on the features when they start landing if you're interested in working on improving the permissions situation. Otherwise stay tuned.
