I can't be sure the exceptions weren't occurring in 1.576, but we were on 1.576 for at least a week and the disk didn't fill up and the log wasn't rotated. After upgrading to 1.576, the disk filled up within a couple of hours and I had to reconfigure logrotate to run every 5 minutes instead of daily. What I can do, is downgrade and see if I get the same errors. But as you say, the errors might have been occurring without being logged. Has anything changed related to logging in 1.577?
