To clarify, before 1.582, it did not work because while the XML file was written, the job type in memory could not be changed. (I.e. it required a restart to be effective.)
As of 1.583, trying to set a different job type is actively prevented, so the file isn't written to either.
So while this could be the report for the change not applying in 1.582 and earlier, there'll be no solution for it due to the 1.583 security fix.
