@Matthias I did some digging and the Use comments... flag is only used when the plugin is unable to update the status. It is honored, the message is something else and as Leandro stated removing the text from the two fields is currently the only way to remove those messages. It would take another setting to be able to tell the plugin not to make comments ever.
