I would appreciate any advice about how to streamline Jess for
downloading. The application is a distributed expert system (prototype
is at www.co.iup.edu/PHA) which we want to make available over the
Internet. Even after packing the Java code into a jar, however,
download+initialization time is ~4 minutes over a 33.6 connection.
Using a client/server architecture is another option. I've been trying
out Java RMI, but the browsers don't seem to support it very well.
