Java rmi is indeed a disappointment so far when it comes to implementation.
Not only is it not supported by Explorer; Netscape's most browsers on the Net
yet only support Java1.0 and not Java1.1 which is fundamentally required. I
have myself looked at Servlets as an alternative to RMI and find it a viable
alternative. You can find some good references to Servlets at Java or IBM:
