Yes, it IS possible to put run an RBS as an EJB. We (myself and two other guys
on the rule team) have done this recently on a project using Tengah, JSP, Java
GUI client and OPSJ from PST. OPSJ is the Java-based rule engine from PST,
although Dr. Forgy still prefers to call it a programming language. Details of
exactly how are shrouded in our non-disclosure agreement so I can't go into that
part. :-(
Suffice it to say, it's doable without too much effort. Just remember, each
rulebase (set of rules and runtime engine) compose a single EJB and you will
need to do the same thing for each one. Also, it did take several days to work
out the idiosynchracies of interfacing all the components, but that's what they
pay us to do, right?
