I was busy with this recently: (got side tracked)
* you've seen
    http://herzberg.ca.sandia.gov/jess/docs/rete.html
* I traced 2 books via inter library loan:
  1. Patrick Winston - Arificial Intelligence (edition 2);
   this had OK documentation (I've photo-copied some pages)
  2. Got lost in new-S.Africa chaos - I don't remenber the name.

Recent stuff on the net indicates:
  Forgy has a 'new improved' (faster) version, and a commercial
  enterprise is based on this '?patented' version ?

I did serious analyses of Winston's explanation.
I'm not convinced I understand, unless I've implemeted the algorithm.
I intend to go back to finish an implementation (on my Oberon lang/OS).

My 'extracted' analyses can be forwarded.

Chris Glur.

PS. remember when interneters answered 'bellow' ?
European languages write: top to bottom.
Or is it some new M$ smart-arse that I'm missing ?
