I -really- need to do something about this. I think we're all tired of
answering this question every day. I think I'm going to solve the
problem by moving the browsable manual to be a link off a new
"documentation" page, which would have separate links to Jess 4, 5,
and 6 manuals. Hopefully people will then notice that the manual
chenges when the software does!
Anyway, don't use the Jess 5 manual (for instance, the copy available
from the main page of the Jess web site) with the Jess 6 software. The
Jess 6 download comes with its own (expanded, improved, and most
importantly -different-) manual.
Specifically: If you want to do this in Jess 6, you must use the
(fact-id) function:
(retract (fact-id 4))
