Dear Friend, The Love that we show toward others doesn't always have to come with words, but can come simply by our positive actions intervening to make a bad situation better or more bearable for that one going through the hardship. Many times we become self involved and forget that we are to bear one another's burdens. We are to have the mind of Christ and care for our fellow man as we would for ourselves. The Bible declares in Galatians 6:2, "Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ." As believers in Jesus Christ, we have received undeserved mercy and compassion and as His children we are to share that mercy and compassion to a hurting and dying world. Be encouraged to take the time to be a blessing when you have the opportunity and allow your light to shine brightly where others are positively affected. (Matthew 5:38-48) (Matthew 22:36-40) (Matthew 5:16) I hope this message ministers to your heart to take special interest in that one around you that needs to be comforted and encouraged. By your actions you will be stepping in the footprints of The Savior and showing that one whom you belong to. ROCKING WITH ME There was once an elderly, despondent woman in a nursing home. She wouldn't speak to anyone or request anything. She merely existed - rocking in her creaky old rocking chair. The old woman didn't have many visitors. But every couple mornings, a concerned and wise young nurse would go into her room. She didn't try to speak or ask questions of the old lady. She simply pulled up another rocking chair beside the old woman and rocked with her. Weeks later, the old woman finally spoke. "Thank you," she said. "Thank you for rocking with me." Author Unknown We are to comfort those who are disheartened and lift up those who are down and discouraged. When I think of comforting others, I think of Job. When Job went through the terrible trials of his life, three of his friends gathered together and set their minds that they would comfort their friend. They did not pray for someone else to comfort him or to intervene, but took action right away and were by Job's side in his time of need. Their intervention is a lesson that we can all learn from. (2 Corinthians 1:3-5) The account of what took place is written in Job 2:11-13 "Now when Job's three friends heard of all this adversity that had come upon him, each one came from his own place-Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite. For they had made an appointment together to come and mourn with him, and to comfort him. 12 And when they raised their eyes from afar, and did not recognize him, they lifted their voices and wept; and each one tore his robe and sprinkled dust on his head toward heaven. 13 So they sat down with him on the ground seven days and seven nights, and no one spoke a word to him, for they saw that his grief was very great." We should never think it difficult to intervene and be helpful to someone who is in need. If we found ourselves going through certain trials and tribulations, we would want someone there to encourage us to stand strong and not give up and so we who are able should always be ready to lend a helping hand towards someone who is in need. (1 Thessalonians 5:14-15) Be encouraged to be a friend toward someone who is in need and allow your presence to make a bad situation a little better. We may not be able to make someone else's troubles disappear, but we sure can be a friend and let that one know that we care and will be there for them. (Philippians 2:5-7) Read and meditate on these scriptures: Matthew 25:37-40 Jesus declares "Then shall the righteous answer Him, saying, Lord, when saw we Thee an hungred, and fed Thee? or thirsty, and gave Thee drink? When saw we Thee a stranger, and took Thee in? or naked, and clothed Thee? Or when saw we Thee sick, or in prison, and came unto Thee? And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto Me." 2 Corinthians 1:3-5 "Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God. For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also aboundeth by Christ." 1 John 4:10-12 "Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us, and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another. No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and His love is perfected in us." All of these scriptures can be found in the King James Version Bible.
