Kuliah
Intensif-1:

THEOLOGY
AND SOCIAL THOUGHT

(Kuliah hanya dalam bahasa Inggris)

The course
aims to introduce and evaluate the work of three modern Calvinists who have
made a major contribution to the ongoing reformation of the church, state,
society, theology, philosophy, and the sciences. Special attention will be
given to the seemingly incompatible relationship between the “antithesis” (the
Christian way of life and thought in opposition to non-Christian ways of life)
and “common grace” (which makes possible what is common among all people in
God’s one created world).

Senin-Jumat, 8-12 November 2010:

8-11 Nov.: 08.00-14.00 WIB

12 Nov.: 08.00-12.00 WIB

Kuliah Intensif-2:

THEOLOGY
OF WORK AND VOCATION

(Kuliah hanya dalam bahasa Inggris)

This course introduces a biblically grounded
approach to human responsibility in God’s world, focusing particularly on
questions of work, stewardship, and vocation. How does the life, death, and
resurrection of Jesus Christ relate to the earthly responsibilities of men and
women created in the image of God who have fallen into sinful disobedience? Has
human work been nullified? Some of the other questions we intend to address are
these: Are creaturely (this-worldly) vocations on a different level than
spiritual or “religious” vocations? Is human work any longer acceptable to God
since humans have fallen into sin? Does Christ’s work have anything to do with
our earthly vocations? What is the relation between each person’s particular
talents and sense of calling, on the one hand, and the calling of God’s people
to follow Christ as a community of disciples, on the other hand? Is there any
sense in which our exercise of responsibilities in this world looks forward to
fulfillment in the age to come?

Senin-Jumat,
15-19 November 2010:

15-18 Nov.: 08.00-14.00 WIB

19 Nov.: 08.00-12.00 WIB

Seminar:

OUR
EARTHLY LABORS – Economic, Social, and Political – ARE NOT IN VAIN

(Inggris – Indonesia)

The good
news of Christianity is that Jesus Christ is reconciling the whole creation to
God and saving sinners to serve as ministers of that reconciliation (II Cor. 5:
16-21). This means that God’s good creation, including all of our human
responsibilities are being restored and fulfilled through Christ. Therefore,
our labors in this world are exceedingly important. All of them – family and
education, business and industry, social service and government – are of great
value to the image of God and to God. This calls for our profound attention to,
and engagement in, the affairs of our world today.
