This is a very interesting idea. What I'd like to add is with Cornerstone, theoritically the same Jakarta Enterprise Portal product can potentially support different combinations of Struts and like, Jetspeed and like, Cocoon and like and different services. Each combination will run on a different configuration and satisfy a different audience.

What about a synergy:
User interaction and request dispatching -- Struts 2.0
Portlet Container and Portlet API -- Jetspeed 2.0
Portlet rendering pipeline -- Cocoon 2.0 with mods to take advantage
of Struts 2.0
Remote Portlets - WSRP. I would also suggest support WSIF
  Pluggable services - Cornerstone,
including a BSF Service which can publish any BSF compliant script
as a service, service info to be set from XML config file

This would result in a new enterprise class product, Jakarta Enterprise
Portal, which would be hosted at site portals.apache.org.

None of the above is new, but it ties several threads together.

Hi All,

A huge Struts 2.0 discussion on the struts-dev list has started.
Everybody is putting in their ideas of how Struts 2.0 ought to be like.
I encourage all Portal/Portlet developers to participate in that
discussion in struts-dev and provide their insight on how Struts 2.0
could become a good portlet framework.

Sorry for the cross-posting. I thought it was substantial news that
portal/portlet developers may be interested in.

Thanks,
Mete
